Harley-Davidson to Cut Down on Domestic Production
Harley-Davidson’s corporate headquarters is cutting down on domestic motorcycle production. This decision was the result of a downturn in Harley-Davidson’s national sales. Harley-Davidson has taken a courageous step, rather than reacting to a recession, they’re being proactive and not overloading the market with motorcycles. They definitely would not want to follow the trend of the automotive industry, and flood the market with their motorcycles. International sales, on the other hand, seem to remain strong for Harley-Davidson.
With the gas prices the way they are it looks like motorcycle sales would be picking up. Harley-Davidson motorcycles do get around 45 to 55 mpg. If you are thinking of purchasing a new Harley this spring, price a model “bare bones” direct from the factory, without all the dealer up-grades and you could see a $1500 to $3000 dollar savings.
