Colorado Motorcycle Show and Swap Review

cmssblockJust got back from the 31st annual Colorado motorcycle show and swap meet, the largest in the Rocky Mountain Region. I went down look’n for a late model sporty frame, to go with the 98 1200 I picked up, on that Craigslist deal last week. This was a 2 day show, and talking to some of the vendors, today was not going as good as yesterday, seemed to me, there was a good crowd. I watched as several bikes were sold and rolled out the door along with a few font ends, and a lot of guys carrying tires out, looked as though money was not a problem, some prices seemed high to me, I only found one late model, hard tail frame and the guy wanted 900 bucks, they list for $999.00 brand new from J&P Cycles, I guess the guy didn’t take me to serious, or he just didn’t want to deal. I spotted one other sporty frame, like the 63 frame I have already from the Craigslist deal. Just to check out the market I asked the price on this early frame, $400 the guy says. That was it for sporty frames. There was a ton of Big Twin frames, all late model stuff. You know what they say “parts is parts”, and the place was full. Nice leather biker jackets for $99.00, and vests for 20 bucks.

One thing about going to a motorcycle show and or swap meet you are guaranteed to see people you haven’t seen seance the last swap or show you attended, and if you haven’t seen any HA’s or SOS, or Bandidos patches in a while, you diffidently can get your fill in Denver. I think every motorcycle club there is, was there and had a booth this weekend. Looking at the vendor listings’ I counted over 320 vendors and clubs combined that had booths. So much for the swap, let’s move on to the motorcycle show.

Now I don’t get all worked up on crome and paint like some, I’d rather look over the old stuff, so I did. Like this 36 knuckle.

Then this Knuckle caught my eye, from MadDog Custom Cycles. This is a custom build bobber starting around 24 grand.

Then here’s one for the Navy, a 1945 Harley UL.

  1. Huh, why is it the only time I go to these shows…there’s only the cookie cutter crap to look at? Those impossibly stupid looking motorcycles with the camel hump frame and gas tank, the candy paint job I will never afford, and more doo dads and eye candy than any bike needs?

Maybe I should move? Naaa…I just don’t do cold.
Sounds like you enjoyed yourself, even if you didn’t find the frame your after.
