Peace Officers Firefighters Fellowship

The POFF Mission……

To support Peace Officers,
Firefighters and their families in prayer,
providing resources through fellowship,
brining them together to support one another.

The physical environment we have relied on is being altered at “quark speeds” by technological innovations, extreme mobility, the breakdowns of both the nuclear and extended families, the threat of terrorism and the breakdown in values. These dynamics are joining forces to create a state of complete chaos. In fact never in the history of the world has there been such a great need for repentance and call for prayer.

The Prayer Breakfast
Peace Officers Firefighters Fellowship (POFF) seeks to bring peace officers and firefighters together in a spiritual way, to encourage these men and women to fill that God-shaped void in their unique world of police and fire service. Renowned for its colorful pageantry, dynamic musical performances, and stirring messages from nationally prominent high achievers, the annual Peace Officers Firefighters Prayer Breakfast inspires and Incites hope with unforgettable stories of strength of character, humility and faith in Jesus Christ.

POFF Chaplains
POFF Chaplains provide physical and spiritual Support to individuals and to victims of devastating and widespread disasters. POFF Chaplains seek the highest standards with training in critical incident stress management.

The Toy Runs
The Christmas first toy run started with a police call when a struggling family had been robbed of everything in their house. When the officer arrived he noticed the family did not have any food or Christmas toys for their children. He then put in a call to his police motorcycle club and they went shopping for the family.

After ten years this POFF Christmas tradition has now grown to include a small fleet of police and firemen, church members and Christian motorcycle clubs that pack their saddle bags with toys , food and plenty of Christmas cheer and ride to the neighborhoods that need it the most.

POFF’s, “ Saint Nick Squadron” is always looking for extra volunteers to join in on the “Christmas parade” , so if you have a motorcycle, please contact Woody and join us for the ultimate Christmas adventure!

This years Christmas parade and Toy Run roll out was captured in photographs by motozania. To see all the POFF motorcycle pictures motorcycle pictures, just go to www.motozania.com and look in the group section for POFF.

Bikers & Rodders help out their neighbors with sick kids

In the San Luis Valley of Colorado, the financial outlook has always been bleak for those who work on the multiple farms dotting the Valley floor, or any of the other low-paid jobs prevalent in the area. Now, things are even worse, and there’s no good news in sight. Wait….strike that! There is a little light at the end of the tunnel for those  Valley families with children suffering from life-threatening conditions.

FAST FRIENDS, a local charity that uses motorcycle and hot rod related events to raise funds, has been in existence for just a little over a year, and has helped numerous families with services and goods. Groceries, warm clothing, propane in the tank, and a line of credit at the local gas station are some of the ways these guys step in and assist families overwhelmed by the stress and expense of dealing with a seriously ill or injured child.

FAST FRIENDS is a registered non-profit corporation with the state of Colorado, as well as a 501 c (3) federally recognized charity. All proceeds are kept in the San Luis Valley, and the organization’s officers and other members are all volunteers; nobody gets paid to do this work.

FAST FRIENDS has memberships available at the individual level, as well as four different levels of Sponsorship. Members flip burgers at other groups’ events, host Cruise Nights at the local parks, and put on a few larger fund-raisers a year to raise funds.

The next event on their schedule is the 2nd Annual Winter Wipeout Swap Meet on March 7, 2009 in Monte Vista, CO. The event will be indoors, heated, with 100 vendor spaces available. Spaces are $15/ea or 2/$25, and breakfast or lunch is only $5. That is for the whole meal. Want it smothered in green chili? It’s still $5. Want cheese? You got it….still $5. FAST FRIENDS prides itself on giving people a good value for their donations, and lets the general public into the Swap Meet with no admission charge. There is an Auction at noon with loads of art from nationally and internationally known automotive, low brow, and motorcycle artists, as well as talented local artists. Spaces are available for nearly any wares, from bikes, cars, bike & car parts, pinstripers, leather, jewelry, you name it. The only thing not  allowed (other than illegal items) is food vendors. The food sales are the group’s main source of income, after the auction.

Other attractions during the day will be live music all day, drawings and raffles, and the second annual Outlaw Pinewood Derby Challenge, a no-rules affair made possible by the local scouts donating the use of their track.

To see more (including updated fliers and pictures from last year’s event) about the Swap Meet, or to find out more about FAST FRIENDS, you can visit their website at http://www.slvfastfriends.org

Finding Cheap Car Insurance

Posted on 14th November 2008 by JG Mashino in Autos, Trucks and More

With the economy, world wide, crumbling lower and lower each day, we need to cut our expenses as our income dwindles or dies altogether. It has become a daily struggle just to survive. There are a number of ways we can begin to tighten our belts even further and that is online car insurance. This, however, can be a challenge. The options are numerous and available both off and online car insurance companies. You want to choose your car insurance carefully, so that it is what you want and need. One that will be there for you, if need help.

There are things to think about when searching for online car insurance. Here are some things you might want to keep in mind while you are looking for a car insurance company, before you make a decision. Let’s start with….

[sinp]On|About[/spin]Customer Service

One of the important items is customer service. Pick a company or two and look at the customer service part of them. Talk with any of your choice car insurance and get their opinion about the customer service department. Many people use the Better Business Bureau to find out if any complaints have been issued against a company. If complaints have been filed – that’s a “red flag.”
The “BBB” report will also be an indication of a reliable company.

Find out if they are Financially Solid

The last thing you need is to file a claim and find they can’t help, filed bankruptcy or their doors are closed to business. When you are making a claim, it is too late to change your car insurance company. To check on their financial stability you can go to Standard & Poor’s ratings. They will also have a company’s credit rating as well. A car insurance company with a solid financial background is a good choice. Remember reliability and financial stability are two of the most important things to look for. And don’t go for a rating lower than BBB with Standard & Poor’s.

Cost of Car Insurance

There is an enormous difference in price from one online car insurance to another. You can check this on the website of each company you are interested in. Just request a quote. Going online and getting this information is easy and quick. Research has found quotes from $69.00 to over $300.00 for the same coverage. You will request the same coverage you are now getting with your current car insurance company.

These are the three most important things to look for. Just remember…reliability, financial stability and cost of this insurance. You will get competitive prices when you request your quotes and will see the difference from one car insurance company to another.

With research and patience you will find a car insurance company you are comfortable with and everything you want and need from a car insurance company. Reliability, financial stability, good coverage and affordable fees from a car insurance company, are what you are looking for.

Learn More Info About Gas Prices and Gas Economy

Will gas prices ever go down

Gas prices is a hot topic these days leaving people to wonder will gas prices ever go down. Even if small price cuts are possible, a return to reasonable gas prices doesn’t look likely. With the latest economic downturn, the price of gas is rapidly leaving the reach of hard-working individuals who haven’t seen a pay raise to match the ever-rising cost of everyday goods.

One source of hope is that as demand for gasoline drops from people traveling less, and cars becoming more efficient with new fuels appearing on the horizon, supply and demand factors will consequently keep prices stable, even if on the high side.

One factor that will keep gas prices from going down is the cost of refining the gas to burn as cleanly as possible to meet ever-stringent emission standards set by law. Refineries will need updates, more research and development studies, more training of personal in new refining methods will all be among the list of excuses oil companies will offer for why the price of gas is so high. These are gas economy facts.

It seems unlikely that the government will do anything substantial to reduce gas prices, because there are simply too many competing political priorities; if gas prices are to come down.

People will travel less and spend less, hurting our economy even more, and as the cost of food rises, the quality of food people purchase will decrease which will probably result in higher health care and insurance costs. People will also need to start planning their activities better, for example planning all errands for a single day to reduce traveling and fuel consumption.

The most important thing people can do is make their voices heard. They shouldn’t just complain to friends and coworkers, they should share their concerns with their governmental representatives in letters, emails, or phone calls. Your tax money pays their salaries, so they should be working for you to represent your interests. The problem is that they are also listening to oil lobbyists, but hearing from their constituents in a large group can make a difference.

Will gas prices ever go down to manageable levels for most people? Very likely any decrease will be negligible, but if you add your voice to the increasingly large group of people seeking change, it is possible that our national leaders may listen and take meaningful action to stop run-away gas prices”listen.

And meanwhile it is still wise to be realistic in other spheres of life, cars including. Learn the car insurance price compare secrets.
