More of Stan Dishong
This is a follow up from a post back in January about Iron Man Stan Dishong. I received quite a few comments and emails with more history on Stan.
Kurt Silva has sent in pictures from the 1950’s that were found in an old photo album belonging to his dad, Ed Silva. There are quite a few rare pictures within this post make sure you check them all out.
Seems Ed and Stan were pretty good friends. Kurt can remember going with his dad to Stan’s Cycle shop in Vallejo in the early 60’s and being in awe of the motorcycle trophies that filled the shop. Pictures below include Kurt’s dad Ed Silva, Kurt’s uncle Manny Silva, Stan Dishong and wife Jackie, Stan’s brother Fay Dishong and some guys named Big Joe and Bill.
This first pic is Stan and Jackie Dishong at a Halloween Party 1955.

Pictured here from the same party, left to right, Bill with a gal, then Stan and Jackie Dishong, Big Joe, Manny Silva and Ed Silva.

The next set of photos were taken possibly at the Bonneville Salt Flats from the looks of the surroundings. They are all dated 1955.

Couple of shots with Stan and his Knuckle Stroker.

The last set of pictures were all marked, Lincoln CA. Looks like an old air strip, many possibilities of the location. Back in the 50′s with street drags gaining popularity, and young folks getting killed drag racing on the city streets, many municipalities opened up air fields that were built during the big one (WWII), to weekend drag racing competition.

Coming off the line on the Scout.

By the smile on Stan’s face, the Scout was running fine on this day.

Pictured with Stan is his brother Fay, over Stan’s right shoulder. Stan’s wife Jackie and Ed Sliva.
I would like to thank Kurt Silva for allowing me to post these pictures.
If anyone has extra information or knowledge of the locations stated above, please feel free to leave a comment.
